What is an Activist? An activist is someone who attempts to change a society, trying to make it a better place by peaceful means. To become an effective activist or leader, an individual must be dedicated to a specific cause, be committed to public service and be able to effectively persuade others in a given community to think along with the activist. Some of the causes that an individual can become involved with are the environment, animal rights, political activism and social awareness.

Activists are generally categorized as either liberal or radical.
